02. Crate o' Preserves by Dolly Harasym

Dolly says “I’ve always enjoyed having a full pantry of goods that I’ve grown or gathered in the wild and then preserved. I would like to see more people get inspired to grow and preserve their own food.” This wonderful offering includes the book The Complete Book of Home Preserving, the crate and everything in it! We paired Dolly’s generous gift with The Complete Preserving Book by the Canadian Living Test Kitchen.

Hours to make: too many, cost of book and crate: $60.00, cost of the preserves: priceless. Dolly would like to see a minimum bid of $100.00.

Sheila wrote that this table runner was inspired by her love of batik fabrics which are a marvellous counterpoint to rich colours sparked with light. This was specialty quilted on a long arm machine. It took about 4 hours to make and the materials were $45. We chose the book Decorate Fearlessly! by Susanna Salk to accompany this lovely runner.

05. Elven Christmas Shoes by Leah Cuthbert

Give the big elf in your life a new pair of slippers! Leah crocheted these slippers using a new-to-her technique called mosaic crochet and an old-to-her technique called foul language. They will be super soft on your feet or as suggested by some they could make 2 great alternatives to Christmas stockings. They took way longer to make than they should (hence the foul language) and the materials were about $15.00. We have paired Leah’s donation with the dvd Elf starring Will Ferrell, directed by Jon Favreau.
