Medical Assistance in Dying & How to Bury Your Own Dead
One family’s story of Medical Assistance in Dying & how to bury your own dead
In the spring of 2018, Chelsea Keays’ dad, John, died at home. He requested a medically assisted death in the final stage of kidney disease. He died peacefully and he was extraordinarily grateful to the nurse and doctor who helped him.
John asked his family to share their experience so that people can learn about medical assistance in dying. Chelsea will tell her story with words and photographs.
After John’s death, Chelsea and her family readied his body for burial. In the second part of this presentation, Chelsea will share what she learned about the necessary papers and permits and discuss
ideas for respectful, loving, after-death care.
