Library Board Meeting

Present: Cary Dalton (CD), Devlin Fernandes (DF), Glenn Groulx (GG), Stephanie Lysyk (SL), Chelsea Keays (CK), Brent Patriquin (BP), Dale White (DW), Joe Zelwietro (JZ, Chief Librarian) and David Try (Board negotiator)

Meeting commenced at 7:00 pm.

• Discussion with 4 representatives of the Friends of the Prince Rupert Library and the Prince Rupert Library Board. There has been a significant change in the Friends organization as well as new trustees in the Board. This meeting was to improve communications between the two library groups. The Trustees wanted to let the Friends know that the Friends are an important organization and that the fund-raising has enabled the library to improve it’s services greatly over many years. The Friends wanted the library board to know what its needs are now. There was good discussion and several trustees voiced interest in joining the Friends of the Library.

• In-camera discussion of the Board’s Negotiations planning with the lead negotiator David Try.

• Motion moved by SL, seconded by BP that:

  • Motion to appoint David Try as lead negotiator for collective agreement bargaining and approve the general terms for proposals as discussed by the Board. Passed.

• JZ to send notice to the Union to open negotiations.

Meeting Adjourned at 9pm. Next Meeting at 7pm (Feb. 7,2018).
