Accessibility Services
The Prince Rupert Library is committed to making our services accessible for all patrons. We are an active member of the Prince Rupert and Area Accessibility Committee [1], a community initiative focused on improving access and inclusion for people with disabilities.

We continue to offer and improve services that support a wide range of accessibility needs:
- Free home delivery for eligible patrons
- Curbside pick-up
- Large print collection
- eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines (downloadable to personal devices)
- Faxing services
- Audiobooks on CD
- Community maps
- Take-home Dementiability Kits
- Elevator access to the second floor
- In-house wheelchair available for use
NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) [3] – A free, open-source screen reader for Windows that helps people who are blind or visually impaired use a computer. Available for anyone to download and use.
Emergency Preparedness for People with Disabilities (PDF) [4] – A practical guide from the Province of BC to help individuals with disabilities, seniors, and caregivers plan ahead for emergencies. A printed copy is also available at the Library’s circulation desk.
NNELS (National Network for Equitable Library Service) [5] – Downloadable accessible content for readers with print disabilities
CELA (Centre for Equitable Library Access) [6] – Library services for Canadians with print disabilities
