"Service Above Self"

The Rotary Club of Prince Rupert is the second oldest club in the District, receiving its Charter in 1921. It has sponsored clubs in Terrace, Ketchikan, Whitehorse, and Prince Rupert, during its illustrious history.

The Prince Rupert Rotary Club is known for its community service, fellowship and its specialty, seafood barbecues. During the B.C. Seniors' Games in 1994, the Club fed over 1,800 people in 25 minutes. Rotary's annual fundraising events include its Rotary Auction, Christmas tree sales, Seafood dinner, Seafood Dinner and its Seafest food concession.

Over the past eight decades, the Club has participated in many community projects, including: the hospital children's ward, the first live blood bank in the City, the municipal swimming pool, the Second Avenue tennis courts and the Rotary Waterfront Park.

Weekly meetings start with an invocation and the singing of the national anthem, club business and the weekly speaker. The Sergeant-at-Arms injects levity into each meeting, by fining, scolding, and joking with members before a toast to the Queen.
