11. Girlfriends' Market Bag & $25.00 Safeway Gift Card by Marion Weir

Marion knit this cute little market bag and added the gift card to make the bag easy to fill! This project took Marion about 6 hours to complete and we are so glad she donated it to us. We paired this donation with the book Easy Green Living by Renee Loux.

18. Wool Beanie with a Basket Weave Brim by Rosa Robichaud

Rosa used a yarn that is 65% wool, 25% mohair and 10% angora in a warm brown and tan colour combination. A lightweight and warm combination! We paired Rosa’s work with 100 Hats to Knit & Crochet/em> by Jean Leinhauser.

21. Quilt in Autumn Colours by Trish Banighen

Trish wrote "Quilters call this kind of a quilt a 'stash buster quilt.' Many books suggest ways of using up small amounts of many different fabrics." We chose Kid’s Quilts by Elizabeth Keevil to accompany Trish’s quilt.

23. Two Tropical Bird Throw Pillows by Trish Banighen

Trish wrote “These pillows were inspired by my friend’s trip to Costa Rica, but almost every travel book or novel about South America mentions the beautiful, exotic birds." We chose Jungle by Eyewitness Books to accompany Trish’s donation.

20. Super Size Granny Square Lapghan by Lorraine Woods

Lorraine crocheted this lovely ‘lapghan’ using an easy care yarn. She chose a stitch common in granny squares but rather than using many small squares Lorraine chose to make a super-sized granny square! We paired this creation with How to Crochet by Pauline Turner.

19. Chevron Lap Throw Afghan by Lorraine Woods

Lorraine is a frequent visitor to the library and we were very happy to receive this chevron afghan – one of two afghans she made for the auction. Lorraine said “It took 1 ½ weeks to make and I just hope somebody buys it and helps the library.” Lorraine said she was inspired by the afghans in Vanna’s Favorite Gift Afghans by Vanna White.

Lizette used, colour, applique, quilting and embroidery to to create this beautiful quilt. We paired Lizette’s art with the book Pete Culler’s Boats by John Burke.

01. Doily Parasol

This lovely parasol was created from a found umbrella and and Chelsea’s collection to doilies dyed in tea. Chelsea says this umbrella casts beautiful shadows when suspended from the ceiling by the handle. It took about 10 hours to assemble this unique item and as for the inspiration? Chelsea says, “Doilies – I love them” We paired Chelsea’s parasol with The Big Book of Doilies by the American School of Needlework.

04. Driftwood Plant Stand with Plant by Alan Carl

Another fantastic creation by Alan Carl. He made the plant stand from cottonwood drift wood. A man of few words Alan’s extra thoughts were “I was warned not to overwater the plant’ We paired Alan’s donation the book Hip Houseplants by Orlalndo Hamilton.

13. Dragon Boots with Felted Insoles by Janice A. Astawa

Janice used a combination of knitting and crochet and a pattern she adapted especially for this look. Her inspiration is ‘fantasy’ and the ongoing and growing movement of this genre in books, movies and games. Yarn to make this project was $30. We paired these nifty boots with Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonsong.
