Exhibit and Display Stage

What:
    The exhibit and multimedia display will be designed and constructed. The FibreNet website will be updated and installed in the multimedia display.
How:
    Susan Marsden, (Curator of the Museum of Northern British Columbia), Dorothy Spencer, (visual artist and designer), and Ronald Bolton, (Exhibit Co-ordinator), will create and construct the exhibit. Allan Wilson, (Prince Rupert Library), and his team will design, construct and install the multimedia display, the touch-screen kiosk, and the FibreNet website.
When:
    March to June 1999.
Where:
    North Pacific Cannery Village Museum, (FibreNet website will be designed and constructed at the Prince Rupert Library).
Why:
    This interactive, multimedia exhibit will give people a place to celebrate their past and present, and will be of lasting benefit to the community. The community itself and visitors to North Pacific may learn from our experiences, listen to our voices, see what we have made together, and feel the presence of the knowledge and people it required. Using a constantly running audio tape, sound, light, and the net itself, the display will lead visitors from story to story. The FibreNet website will be accessible from the exhibit site, or to the larger community through the web.
What's involved:
  • Exhibit design and construction: The exhibit will be constructed as one that may easily travel to other communities and museums.
  • Video editing: Video footage taken by School District 52 will be edited into a museum-quality video.
  • FibreNet Multimedia display: Youth will be employed for the website team and multimedia exhibit design.
