Library Board Meeting

November 10, 2021

Present: Nick Adey (NA), Chris Armstrong (CA), Chelsea Keays (CK), Stephanie Lysyk (SL), Dale White (DW), Joe Zelwietro (JZ, Chief Librarian)

Regrets: Brendan Turner (BT), Carolina de Ryk (CdR), Andrea Wilmot (AW)

Meeting commenced at 7:01 pm.

• Consent agenda accepted, motion by SL, seconded by CK, passed
• Requests to add the following items to Discussion agenda:
  • results of Prince Rupert Council re: PRL's annual grant request
  • trustees to consider meeting in person for Board meetings
  • discussion about Chief Librarian contract negotiation process
  These items were accepted.
• PRL and CBC Radio will be partners in an upcoming reconciliation project, tentatively called "Our Stories". CdR and JZ will update the Board as this project continues.
• The newest layout of the Strategic plan was discussed briefly and further discussions will be done by the Strat. Plan cmte. on Dec. 8, 2021 hybrid zoom/in-person meeting
• Discussion of whether Chief Librarian would like a change in the Chief Librarian contract negotiations process, such as having another representative/advocate when meeting with Library Board trustees. JZ will consider.
• The January 2022 Board mtg will take place in person on January 12, 2022 and the plan is to have this meeting in person at the Library.
• NA informed the Library Board that City Council did accept the Library Board's annual request without amendment during Council meeting of Nov. 8, 2021

Motion to adjourn meeting at 8:00pm, by CK, seconded by SL, passed.

Next Strategic Plan meeting (in-person and zoom) on Dec. 8, 2021 in Library MPR and via zoom @ 7pm.

Next full Library Board meeting in person on Jan 12, 2022 @ 7pm in Library MPR
