Accessibility Services

The Prince Rupert Library is committed to making our services accessible for all patrons. We are an active member of the Prince Rupert and Area Accessibility Committee, a community initiative focused on improving access and inclusion for people with disabilities.

We continue to offer and improve services that support a wide range of accessibility needs:

  • Free home delivery for eligible patrons
  • Curbside pick-up
  • Large print collection
  • eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines (downloadable to personal devices)
  • Faxing services
  • Audiobooks on CD
  • Community maps
  • Take-home Dementiability Kits
  • Elevator access to the second floor
  • In-house wheelchair available for use

NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) – A free, open-source screen reader for Windows that helps people who are blind or visually impaired use a computer. Available for anyone to download and use.

Emergency Preparedness for People with Disabilities (PDF) – A practical guide from the Province of BC to help individuals with disabilities, seniors, and caregivers plan ahead for emergencies. A printed copy is also available at the Library’s circulation desk.

NNELS (National Network for Equitable Library Service) – Downloadable accessible content for readers with print disabilities

CELA (Centre for Equitable Library Access) – Library services for Canadians with print disabilities

The Regular Library Hours are as follows:

Tuesday – Thursday:

Friday:
10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Saturday – Sunday:
1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
