Library Assistant (Casual) – Permanent Position

The Prince Rupert Library is seeking a casual Library Assistant for on-call coverage with a start date of ASAP.

Wage: $36.93/hour  |  Start: ASAP  |  Application deadline: September 13, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.

Overview: Circulation services (check-in/out, holds, payments, registrations), basic reference and reader’s advisory, public computer assistance, collection maintenance, mail processing, and other related duties. This is a unionized position under CUPE Local 105-01.

Library Assistant (Permanent, Part-Time) – Weekends

The Prince Rupert Library is seeking a permanent, part-time Library Assistant for weekend service, with opportunities for additional on-call shifts.

Hours: 4 hrs/week (June–August, Saturdays); 8 hrs/week (September–May, Saturdays & Sundays)

Wage: $36.93/hour  |  Start: ASAP  |  Application deadline: September 12, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.

Indigenous Storyteller in Residence – Fall 2025 (Temporary Position)

The Prince Rupert Library is launching its first Indigenous Storyteller in Residence program, running full-time from September 1 to December 12, 2025.

This is a self-employed contract position. Compensation ranges from $10,000 to $15,000 for 14 weeks at 35 hours per week.

This residency supports a local Indigenous storyteller in delivering community programming while also pursuing their own creative project. The position is open to Indigenous artists, writers, and performers connected to Lax Kxeen, Prince Rupert, or surrounding areas.
