Play from the Library's collection of board games with local expert Mike Gruber. He'll be here to help teach new games as well as participate in the fun.

Writer's Social
Join our casual drop-in writer's group at the library! Open to anyone interested in pursuing creativity through writing.
There will be the option of warm-up prompts, short exercises, or working on existing projects. Sharing your work will always be encouraged, but is never mandatory.

Tenant Rights and Income Security with Paul Lagace
We all know housing is a challenge, but did you know that a local Poverty Law Advocate/Coordinator comes to the Library once a month to answer any questions you have?
Paul Lagace of The Prince Rupert Unemployed Action Centre will be available to talk about Tenant Rights and Income Security as well as being able to answer questions regarding:
- Landlord tenant Laws
- Employment Insurance
- Income Assistance
- Human Rights
- Disability Assistance
- Employment Standards
- CPP

Summer Reading Club
There are two weeks left for our weekly programs, where we will explore different themes through stories, crafts, games, and other activities.
Programing for those finishing Grade 1-3 are on Mondays or Tuesdays, and those finishing Grade 4 and up will be on Thursdays.
Sessions run 2-3pm, until August 14th.
All programs are free of charge, but space is limited, so pre-registration is required.
Don’t forget to drop off your Weekly reading record each week! Choose new activity sheets and enter our prize draws which will run until August 29th.

Teen Book Club
If you have a youth enrolled in our Teen Book Club, they can come pick up their copy of The Maze Runner by James Dashner. We'll be meeting later this month to discuss the book.

Indigenous Storyteller in Residence
The Prince Rupert Library is excited to announce its first Indigenous Storyteller in Residence program. This initiative seeks to honour local Indigenous culture and add to the actions we continually strive to make towards decolonizing our practices and centring Indigenous knowledge systems. It is the intention of the program to promote intercultural understanding and communication through storytelling that may take form in any number of different mediums, be it oral, writing, visual art, music, or other formats both traditional and contemporary. This residency is open to all Indigenous storytellers with strong community connections to Lax Kxeen, Prince Rupert, and the surrounding area who wish to share their knowledge and history.

Novel Ideas Auction!
So, it isn't exactly new, but it's back, and that's more than exciting enough!
Do you have a novel idea?
Have you ever been inspired by a book to create something magical? You could donate a creation, craft, or culinary delight to the Prince Rupert Library for our Novel Ideas fund raising Auction this fall.
There's plenty of time for an idea to strike.
Novel Idea Auction will be held Friday, November 7th, at 7pm at the Lester Centre. Doug Kydd will be the auctioneer.

Create & Make
Our afterschool program Create & Make has moved to Fridays for the summer. No registration required. Children under the age of six must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
Fridays 2-4pm in the Multipurpose Room.
No session August 29th.

Tech Time with Tye
Come and take advantage of Tech Time with Tye!
Twenty minute drop-in sessions are available Tuesdays 6-7pm, Wednesdays 10-11am, and Thursdays 2-3pm.
If those times don't work for you, or you think you'll a bit more time, one-on-one appointments are still available. Call the library to set one up, or email Tye directly.

Knit & Crochet Social
Every Thursday afternoon the Library hosts a cozy group of crafters. If you knit, crochet, or have a similarly portable textile based hobby, you should come and try it out.
This is a social event for self directed individuals to bring their personal projects.

We've had our foyer and children's area repainted this summer. Aren't they looking clean and fresh?

Our darling salmon have outgrown their library accommodations and were released into the wild on July 27th. We wish them well and look forward to our next batch, fingers crossed for later this year.

We've had our foyer and children's area repainted this summer. They're looking clean and fresh. The foyer has had the white paint refreshed and the doors and frames painted in a bold teal. The walls of the children's area are now a robin's egg blue with the same bold teal for accents.

The Salmon artwork donated by Master Carver Dempsey Bob has found its permanent home in a glass display case across from our checkout desk.
|
|
|
