Local board games expert Mike Gruber will be hosting two games nights this month. We'll supply the games (but you can bring something from your own stash if you wish)
These are free drop-in events. Bring your family or a friend, or come on your own. Mike will be here to help you learn new games.This event is open to adults, teens, and children with an adult caregiver.

World Breastfeeding Week
Community Celebration Potluck
It's World Breastfeeding Week 2026, and we're celebrating with an outdoor (weather providing) potluck!
This potluck is being hosted in partnership with the Friendship House Association of Prince Rupert.

Summer Reading Club
Starter Kits
Our take-home Summer Reading Club kits are ready for pick up! These packages include activity sheets, colouring pages, a bookmark, reading log, and most importantly, a weekly reading record. The Weekly Reading Records can be traded in at the front desk for a chance to win one of that week's prizes.
Summer Reading Club Programs
The in-house Summer Reading Club Programs will run for six weeks, ending August 13th.
Those who have finished grades 1-3 can sign up for weekly activities on Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 2-3 pm.
Those who have finished grade 4 & up can attend on Thursdays from 2-3 pm.
The Summer Reading Club Kits and Summer Reading Club Programs are not mutually exclusive; children can participate in either or both.
Programs are free, but space is limited. Registration is required.

Dramaturgy Workshop Series
Prince Rupert Playwright's Circle 2026 is partnering with the Prince Rupert Library to provide free Playwriting and Dramaturgy Workshops from May 26th-August 6th, for ages 18+. Space is limited.
Open-level Playwriting Workshops will be held via Zoom. (Full)

Social Cafe is a safe space for quirky and artistic young adults who don't enjoy typical social outings. Come and be yourself, no pressure, and no expectations.

Whether you're dabbling or committed, writing is more fun with support. Come cultivate your talent with individuals who share your interests. You can work on existing projects, warm up with prompts, and talk challenges and creative woes. Sharing is encouraged but not a requirement.

Our last book club pick was The Girl From the Sea by Molly Knox Ostertag. This was the first time that we read a graphic novel for book club. To accommodate summer vacations, we won't be meeting in August. Any youth interested in joining for September will have plenty of time to read the new novel: The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart

Knit & Crochet Social
Every Thursday afternoon the Library hosts a cozy group of crafters. If you knit, crochet, or have a similarly portable textile based hobby, you should come and try it out.
This is a social event for self-directed individuals to bring their personal projects.
Thursdays starting at 1 pm.

We had an impressive turnout for Leif David's under the sea themed Magic Show and another round of rave reviews for the performance he put on for the children. Thank you so much to everyone who braved the parking lot and the crowd to attend this event; the laughter was amazing to hear.
Our pods are still regularly used in a variety of ways. Our tech guy Tye tested using an interface, allowing him to practice guitar without disturbing anyone in the Library.
Unfortunately, our elevator is still out of commission while we are awaiting new parts. We know that the stairs can pose a challenge for some individuals; if you need assistance accessing books from the second floor, please ask staff. We're happy to help.
