Children's Magic Show
with Magician Leif David
Our favourite magician will be at the Prince Rupert Library for an "Under the Sea" themed magic show. The magic show is one of our most popular events.
This is a free, drop- in event. Children do not need to be registered in the Summer Reading Club to attend.
This event is open to children of all ages, adult supervision is required for children aged six and under.

Summer Reading Club
Starter Kits
Our take-home Summer Reading Club kits are ready for pick up! These packages include activity sheets, colouring pages, a bookmark, reading log, and most importantly, a weekly reading record. The Weekly Reading Records can be traded in at the front desk for a chance to win once of that week's prizes.
Summer Reading Club Programs
The in-house Summer Reading Club Programs will fun for six weeks, July 7th to August 13th. Each week has a separate sign up, and a different theme. July's themes:
Whales and Sharks
Mythical Creatures
Ships and Submarines
Islands
Those who have finished grades 1-3 can sign up for weekly activities on Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 2-3 pm.
Those who have finished grade 4 and up can attend on Thursdays from 2-3 pm.
The Summer Reading Club Kits and Summer Reading Club Programs are not mutually exclusive, children can participate in either or both.
Programs are free, but space is limited. Registration is required.

Games Night with Mike
Local board games expert Mike Gruber will be hosting two games nights this month. We'll supply the games (but you can bring something from your own stash if you wish)
These are free drop-in events. Bring your family or a friend, or come on your own. Mike will be here to help you learn new games.This event is open to adults, teens, and children with an adult caregiver.

Dramaturgy Workshop Series
Prince Rupert Playwright's Circle 2026 is partnering with the Prince Rupert Library to provide free Playwriting and Dramaturgy Workshops from May 26th-August 6th, for ages 18+. Space is limited.
Open-level Playwriting Workshops will be held via Zoom. (Full)

A social event for people who don't like social things.
Social Cafe is a safe space for quirky and artistic young adults who don't enjoy typical social outings. Come and be yourself, no pressure, and no expectations.

Our last book club pick was The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Our June pick is The Girl From the Sea by Molly Knox Ostertag. This is the first time that we're reading a graphic novel, and we've bumped our meeting date up to accommodate summer plans.

Knit & Crochet Social
Every Thursday afternoon the Library hosts a cozy group of crafters. If you knit, crochet, or have a similarly portable textile based hobby, you should come and try it out.
This is a social event for self-directed individuals to bring their personal projects.
Thursdays starting at 1 pm.

We've had another addition to the teen zone. Aren't these chairs cute? There's even one for lefties. We're still waiting on some more furniture to complete the look.
We had some excellent displays in June, our Pride display often gets a lot of attention with its bold colours, and Particip-ACTION was a winner for those who love a community challenge. We also added some excellent new titles to our collection, including The Lost Haida Manga just in time for National Indigenous People's Day.
Thank you to those who came out to our Pride (2014) film screening, and congratulations to the door prize recipients.
Unfortunately we have had to shut off our elevator while we are awaiting new parts. We know that the stairs can pose a challenge for some individuals, if you need assistance accessing books from the second floor, please ask staff. We're happy to help.
