Whether you're dabbling or committed, writing is more fun with support. Come cultivate your talent with individuals who share your interests. You can work on existing projects, warm up with prompts, and talk challenges and creative woes. Sharing is encouraged but not a requirement.

Games Night with Mike
Local board games expert Mike Gruber will be hosting two games nights this month. We'll supply the games (but you can bring something from your own stash if you wish)
These are free drop-in events. Bring your family or a friend, or come on your own. Mike will be here to help you learn new games. This event is open to adults, teens, and children with an adult caregiver.

T-Shirt Draw
Summer Reading Club has come to a close, but children who participated over the course of the summer still have a few weeks to enter the t-shirt draw!
One entry per child, to be drawn mid-September.
Size options: Youth Medium, Youth Large, Adult Small, and Adult Medium.

A social event for people who don't like social things.
Social Cafe is a safe space for quirky and artistic young adults who don't enjoy typical social outings. Come and be yourself, no pressure, and no expectations.
Fridays 1:30–3:30 pm in the Library's multipurpose room.
No session Friday, September 25th as the Library will be closed.

Novel Idea Auction
We know it's still a ways off, but -
Have you considered creating something that could be donated towards the Friends of the Prince Rupert Library's annual fundraiser, the Novel Idea Auction?
This is one of the highlights of our year with patrons generously donating handcrafted items inspired by books. The auction is coming up quickly, and we don't want anyone left out.
Friday, November 6th at the Lester Centre of the Performing Arts.

Our last book club pick was The Girl From the Sea by Molly Knox Ostertag. This was the first time that we read a graphic novel for book club. To accommodate summer vacations, we won't be meeting in August. Any youth interested in joining for September will have plenty of time to read the new novel: The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart

Create & Make
Create & Make returns Thursday, September 17th!
Create & Make is our Library's after school program. Designed for children grade one and up, we've got LEGO, games, colouring sheets, and craft supplies available to keep your creative kids busy.
Kindergarteners may attend if chaperoned by an adult caregiver.
Thursdays: 3:15-4:30 pm.

Knit & Crochet Social
Every Thursday afternoon the Library hosts a cozy group of crafters. If you knit, crochet, or have a similarly portable textile based hobby, you should come and try it out.
This is a social event for self-directed individuals to bring their personal projects.
Thursdays starting at 1 pm.

We had a blast with our Summer Reading Club. We ran six weeks of Summer Reading Club sessions, each week featuring a different theme, all relating back to Under the Sea. We had 36 participants from grades 1-3 and 33 participants from grades 4 and up.
We gave out 109 take-home Summer Reading Club Kits with activity sheets, colouring pages, and reading logs. Participants turned these in over eight weeks to enter for a chance to win one of our 40 prizes.
We were at the Friendship House Block Party on August 8th where 132 people came to our table to talk about Library programs and enter to win one of the three door prizes that were available. It was a wonderful day, and we're happy we were warm and dry this year.
Unfortunately, our elevator is still out of commission while we are awaiting new parts. We know that the stairs can pose a challenge for some individuals; if you need assistance accessing books from the second floor, please ask staff. We're happy to help.
