Replacement card

Your first initial library card is free; however, if you lose it, damage it, or would like a brand new card, then a $5 replacement fee is required.

BC OneCard

If you are a resident of BC, but live outside the Prince Rupert area, you may register for a BC OneCard. You will need to show photo ID and your library card from your local BC municipal or regional library. There is no charge for this service and you can borrow up to 10 items at any time. You may return materials at the Prince Rupert Library or your home library.

(Alternatively, if your home library participates in BC Interlibrary Connect, you may simply use your valid card here without having to register for a local account. This includes most, although not all, Sitka libraries in British Columbia.)

Library Cards for Non-Residents

Library cards are available for visitors and non-residents for a fee of $25 with 6 months access to borrowing privileges.

Logging into "My Account" via website

In order to login to the Library's Catalogue system, you need a username and password. Your username, if you have not changed it, is the barcode located on the back of your library card. If you have forgotten your password or never received one, ask for your password to be reset at the Circulation Desk at the Library or call in during open hours: 250-627-1345. You will be given a new temporary password which when entered will prompt you to set your own unique password.

Northwest Library Federation

We are a member of the Northwest Library Federation as such, you can use your Prince Rupert Library card at Terrace, Kitimat, Smithers, Hazelton, Houston & Stewart. Bring your card with you on your travels, check out items at their libraries, bring them home with you, and when you are done with them you can return them through your home library.

This also applies to other Sitka libraries that participate in BC Interlibrary Connect. When using your Prince Rupert Library card at other libraries, their own circulation policies will apply (e.g. lending period, fines, renewals).

Please see Borrowing Guidelines for borrowing limits, loan periods, and renewal policies.
