Summer Technical Assistant – Temporary Part-Time
21–30 hrs/week | May–August 2026 | $36.93/hour | CUPE Local 105-01 | Open until filled
The Prince Rupert Library is looking for a tech-savvy student to work on two main areas: auditing the quality of digitized newspaper batches for the Prince Rupert Daily News Archive (checking image quality, page sequencing, OCR errors, and preparing files for ingest), and conducting a physical inventory audit of server room and network hardware.
Requirements: Minimum two years post-secondary in an IT-related field; must be currently enrolled or on a semester break. Comfortable working independently with attention to detail.
Technical background needed: Familiarity with Windows and Linux, CMS platforms (Drupal preferred), basic web/HTML, and an interest in learning server-side tools (Apache, virtual machines, Islandora, Evergreen ILS). Shell scripting experience is an asset.
