1.Call to Order/ Introductions
1.1The Prince Rupert Library Board acknowledges the traditional and unceded territory of the Ts'msyen and Sm'algyax Speaking Peoples on which this meeting takes place.
Discussion on having a Board approved territorial acknowledgement. This item will be further explored during strategic planning. K. Lyon mentioned a previous Board approved standing item on meeting agendas to address Truth and Reconciliation/ Indigenization and De-Colonization at the Library.

3.Friends of the Library
3.1Lou Allison, Library Assistant and secretary for the Friends of the Library gave an overview of who the society is, its constitution, and how it operates, as well as an update on recent activity.
3.2M. Taylor will add more information to the Library's website on the Friends of the Library and its constitution.
4.Board Chair Update
4.1N. Purewal provided an update on recent Executive Committee Meetings, the status and membership of sub-committees, and her intentions as Interim Board Chair for 2026 to streamline board processes.
5.Director Update
5.1Discussion of some workflow adjustments due to temporary staff absences.
5.2The Library currently has an information table set up at the All Native Basketball Tournament. This is our second year taking part. This outreach is beneficial both for the Library to share its programs and offerings, as well as to network with residents of the surrounding villages and communities we serve, and to gain vital feedback from community members.
5.3Summary of some of the other events and programs held at the library in February and March.
5.4M. Taylor continues to gather information on potential community partners for a new facility, as per the directives of the New Facility Committee's final report.
5.5The Northwest History Collection turns 50 on March 10, 2026. M. Taylor hopes to plan an initiative to showcase this special collection. Discussion on how the NWHC would benefit from a larger and more accessible space as it has outgrown its current room.
6.City Update
6.1N. Adey provided an update on recruiting new trustees and how board members can aid in this process.
7.Ongoing Action Items
7.1It was agreed upon that Board Meeting start times will remain at 7pm for now. M. Taylor will distribute a poll to board members to determine if there is a preferred start time and day of the week to hold meetings.
8.Sub-Committee Updates
8.1Committee members confirmed their next meeting dates.
8.2Questions for the pre-strat plan survey have been confirmed. M. Taylor will distribute the survey both electronically and in paper format.
9.Additional Items
9.1AGM
Discussion on whether or not to have an AGM or another public event such as an "Open House" to increase public relations and improve board accountability. The Prince Rupert Library, as a Municipal Public Library, is not required to have an AGM under the Library Act. Discussions on this topic will continue during Strategic Planning and with the Strategic Planning Committee.

10.1Motion for the meeting to continue in-camera, policy number 1.3.7 c) the Chief Librarian's performance and pay review.
