Inspired by the story of Saleem Sinai, born precisely on the moment of Indian independance.  Donated by Ellen Little, it takes inspiration from the book Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie, this quilted wall hanging features the silver spitoon first given to Saleem's sister by the Rani of Cooch Naheen as a wedding gift first given to Saleem's sister by the Rani of Cooch Naheen as a wedding gift.  The snakes and ladders that signify the rise and fall of the family's fortunes are represented in the border of the quilt.
