13. Dodge Cove Daffodils by Lou Allison

Lou Allison: Dodge Cove Daffodils: Dodge Cove is noted for its spring display of naturalized daffodils, especially on CBC Hill. Since the 1940s, these simple old-fashioned daffs flourish year after year, surviving wind and late frosts, even snow, where fancier varieties succumb. Included are the bulbs, planting instructions and a lovely gardening book on growing flowers. The book is worth $25, the bulbs are priceless and the advice is free. Paired with one of Lou's favourite gardening books from the library's collection: “The Garden That You Are”, by Katherine Gordon.
