Prince Rupert Library Board Meeting Minutes

March 26, 2015

Present:

Devlin Fernandes (DF), Tim MacDonald (TM), Glenn Groulx (GG), Lauren Williams (LW), Peter Maksymyszyn (PM), Brent Patriquin (BP), Joe Zelwietro (JZ)

Regrets: Helen Moore (HM), Dale White (DW), Joy Thorkelson (JT)

Meeting commenced at 7:15 pm.

• Agenda amended to include TM discussing NCLF AGM, amended agenda moved to be accepted by TM, seconded by GG, Passed
• Library Board Mtg minutes moved to be accepted by TM, LW seconded, Passed.
• Discussion about Librarian's report:
  • Adult Page position pilot project seen as a good idea, JZ needs to define criteria for success clearly in conjunction with potential employee's support worker. Library working with union to attempt to have all parties agreed to project.
  • Review of Library promotion ideas possibilities thus far, as well there is interest in a library event in this year's Seafest, several trustees are willing to participate (have a float, do quiet reading downtown or ?).
  • Board Motion re Library policy: Motion to remove the prohibition against Under-19 year olds from using public computers/internet before 3pm on school days. Moved DF, seconded PM. Passed
• Tim communicated to other trustees of the NCLF AGM on April 18 in Smithers. Tim is going as Chairman of the Prince Rupert Library Board and the Chairman of the NCLF. It is required that Tim be a trustee of a NCLF public library in order to be on the NCLF. Tim is for now, but his term expires in June 2015. He can be re-appointed to our Board and if he is he will remain on both Boards, if he is not re-appointed another trustee will have to become chairman of the Prince Rupert Library. So, this is notice that there may be an opportunity for a present trustee to take over the position. Please talk to Tim if you are interested.
• Prince Rupert Library to have the 2015 AGM on April 23 at 7pm.
