Coastal Wolf Project
Have you ever wanted to know more about the local coastal wolf population?
Michelle Hoang has been studying the distribution and ecology of sea wolves on the North coast using hair and scat samples. She will be presenting her findings at the Library.

We are partnering with CMTN English professor Glenn Groulx for six free creative writing seminars! Each session will have a different subject. Choose the ones that interest you, or attend them all:
September 25th - Why write? Introduction to creative writing as a tool.
October 9th - Writing to learn for the classroom.
October 23rd - Writing to build and curate a professional portfolio.
November 6th - Writing to interact and connect.
November 20th - Writing to heal and grow.
December 4th - Writing to build a personal voice.
6-8pm in the Library's multipurpose room.
Attend in person or through zoom.

Join our casual drop-in writer's group at the library! Open to anyone interested in pursuing creativity through writing.
There will be the option of warm-up prompts, short exercises, or working on existing projects. Sharing your work will always be encouraged, but is never mandatory.

Tenant Rights and Income Security with Paul Lagace
We all know housing is a challenge, but did you know that a local Poverty Law Advocate/Coordinator comes to the Library once a month to answer any questions you have?
Paul Lagace of The Prince Rupert Unemployed Action Centre will be available to talk about Tenant Rights and Income Security as well as being able to answer questions regarding:
- Landlord tenant Laws
- Employment Insurance
- Income Assistance
- Human Rights
- Disability Assistance
- Employment Standards
- CPP

Teen Book Club
Our Teen Book Club met to discuss their first read yesterday, The Maze Runner by James Dashner. Participants rated the book 4.5 stars and voted to continue in the same series with The Scorch Trials.
Congratulations to our door prize winner, we hope they enjoy their new copy of The Book Thief!

The Prince Rupert Library is looking for new staff. We're hiring in both part-time and casual staff. These are both union positions under the collective agreement between the Prince Rupert Public Library Board and CUPE Local 105-01.

Novel Ideas Auction!
So, it isn't exactly new, but it's back, and that's more than exciting enough!
Do you have a novel idea?
Have you ever been inspired by a book to create something magical? You could donate a creation, craft, or culinary delight to the Prince Rupert Library for our Novel Ideas fund raising Auction this fall.
There's plenty of time for an idea to strike.
Novel Idea Auction will be held Friday, November 7th, at 7pm at the Lester Centre. Doug Kydd will be the auctioneer.

Our usual Children's Programs are on hiatus at the moment. Sessions will resume in the fall, watch our social media to see what dates get announced.
Preschool Programs:
Babytime Rhymes, Tales for Twos, and Story Hour will require advance registration.
Create & Make will continue as a drop-in program on Thursdays when things start up again.

Tech Time with Tye
Come and take advantage of Tech Time with Tye!
Twenty minute drop-in sessions are available Tuesdays 6-7pm, Wednesdays 10-11am, and Thursdays 2-3pm.
If those times don't work for you, or you think you'll a bit more time, one-on-one appointments are still available. Call the library to set one up, or email Tye directly.

Knit & Crochet Social
Every Thursday afternoon the Library hosts a cozy group of crafters. If you knit, crochet, or have a similarly portable textile based hobby, you should come and try it out.
This is a social event for self directed individuals to bring their personal projects.

We are so glad to have had the help we did this summer!
Lily made for an amazing Summer Reading Club coordinator. She brought so much creativity and enthusiasm to the role. She ran lively SRC programs over six weeks and the kids loved her.
We also had a tech student diligently working behind the scenes this summer. Matthew spent his summer digitizing a portion of our archived The Daily News, adding to what is now available online.
Lily and Matthew are both heading back to school for September, but they'll be missed.
On a more material note, we have new library merch!
Introducing our library mugs, featuring our classic halibut logo designed by Henry Green. Mugs are available at the library for $15 (cash or cheque).
