Summer Reading Club 2026
The Summer Reading Club is returning to the Library.
Take home Starter Kits will be available for pick-up on Thursday, June 25th. These will include activity sheets, colouring pages, stickers, a bookmark, reading log, and most importantly, a weekly reading record. Completed reading logs can be traded in at the front desk for a chance to enter that week's draw.
Take home kits are available to children of all ages.
Summer Reading Club Programs will fun for six weeks, from July 7th to August 13th.
National Indigenous History Month
June is National Indigenous History Month, and it is National Indigenous People’s Day this Sunday!
The Library will be closed, but here are a few of the ways we try to serve and highlight local Indigenous cultures every day:
New Indigenous Reads - we have an growing collection of books by indigenous authors. Recent acquisitions like “The Lost Haida Manga” by Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas are highlighted in this section.
Library Closed Sundays This Summer
The Prince Rupert Library will be closed on Sundays throughout the summer, effective June 1 to Labour Day.
All other hours remain the same:

New Arrivals are back on our website! Each month we add a fresh selection of recently arrived books and materials to the library's collection, and now you can browse them right here.
We're catching up on a backlog of new arrivals, so the listings from December 2025 through April 2026 include items that arrived over several months. Going forward, new arrivals will be updated monthly.
